Coronavirus: What Unity is doing to be best prepared.

Dear Friends,

With the increased publicity regarding the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended that everyone give intentional thought to being prepared.

In conjunction with Temple Israel, we are monitoring reports regarding the COVID-19 virus in the United States and we are being proactive in preventing the spread of this virus.

Prayer

The first and most important step is always prayer. We know that our consciousness makes a difference and one of the greatest gifts Unity offers is to stay positive and pray.

We invite you to join in the following prayer from Unity Worldwide Ministries:

“We know that God is a Love that has no end and a Power that knows no bounds. God’s healing power of Divine Life is restoring, healing, and revitalizing our world at this very moment. We let go of any fears or anxieties, and we affirm that all are safe, healthy, and protected. We bless all those who support us in maintaining vibrant radiant health. We express Divine Life in all we think, say, and do. We bless our global family with radiant health, peace of mind, and abundant love.”

Additional Prevention Steps

The steps to prevention include the same steps you would take in the face of any active flu season:

  • We have placed hand sanitizing stations at entry points for Sunday Celebration and OM Hour.

  • Maintenance will be increasing its efforts to disinfect all commonly-used surfaces throughout Temple Israel and our staff offices using anti-viral cleaning agents.

  • Employees will remain at home if they are ill.

As part of our community, we always look forward to welcoming you to services, events, and meetings.  We also want to make sure our campus is a safe place for all who visit. We have no plans to close or suspend any of our programs at this time, but we are asking our community to consider the following before visiting:

  • If you detect any COVID-19 symptoms — which are currently noted as coughing/sneezing, fever, and respiratory difficulty — that you (and your children) consider seeking alternate ways in which to be involved with our services or meetings. We live stream our Sunday Celebration every Sunday at 11:15am Eastern on our Facebook page and website (www.unityonthebay.org/sunday) and as a reminder, if you can’t attend but still want to give, you can set up automatic giving via our website (www.unityonthebay.org/give)

  • If you have visited a country or region that has experienced an outbreak of COVID-19, that you (and your children) consider staying home for the duration of the incubatory period – currently listed between 2 to 14 days.

  • That you cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve.

  • That you bring and use hand-sanitizer, use the sanitizing stations provided, or wash your hands frequently while in the building.

  • That you avoid close contact with people who are sick.

The conditions surrounding COVID-19 are evolving daily, and we are regularly following all local and national updates. We will remain vigilant in keeping you informed and safe.

Please contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
