What is Membership?

Membership is for those who are ready to commit to making Unity on the Bay their spiritual home. It’s not a decision to be taken lightly. When you become a member, you are acknowledging a commitment to your own spiritual growth and a commitment to Unity on the Bay as your spiritual community. There are also requirements to remain an active member as defined in our by-laws.

How do I become a Member?

Many people assume that they are members since they have attend classes, events or Sunday Celebrations. This is not true. To become a member, you must first attend a New Member Orientation (see below) and receive approval for membership from our Board of Trustees. Orientations happen quarterly.

🗓️ August 27, 2023
New Member Orientation

Many people assume that they are members since they have attend classes, events or Sunday Celebrations. This is not true. To become a member, you must first attend a New Member Orientation and receive approval for membership from our Board of Trustees. Orientations happen every quarter.

The next orientation will be online & in person on Sunday, August 27 from 1 to 3pm Eastern.

After you attend the New Member Orientation, your membership will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval. Once approved, you will be recognized as a new member at a future Sunday Celebration and you'll receive your membership card. Then you will be on your way to voting at future membership meetings.

Your membership is a big deal! It shows your commitment to a healthy and strong spiritual community, and a commitment to evolving yourself spiritually.

🗓️ Monthly Board Meetings

Members are welcome (and encouraged) to attend our monthly Board Meetings to keep up-to-date on what is happening in our spiritual community. Board meetings are held every month. Be sure to check our online calendar for the upcoming meeting. You are also welcome to email the Board of Trustees.

Meet the Board of Trustees

Our dedicated Board of Trustees represent our membership and are elected by our voting members each year. They oversee the stewardship of our spiritual community. We encourage you to get familiar with their faces and thank them for their volunteer time when you get to see them.

Keeping an Active Membership

In 2022, our membership voted to amend our By-Laws. One of those amendments was to membership. Section 3.3 of the ByLaws states “A member shall maintain active status by demonstrating dedication to the growth and expansion of this Ministry, as demonstrated through consistent financial support, regular attendance at services, and/or active involvement in programs and Sacred Service. Active members should also endeavor to support the mission and vision of this Ministry.”

We encourage all members to review the full By-Laws.
